Ames Police: DNA Evidence Links Suspect to Burglary at Snow Cone Business Last June
Ryen Ellrich, 25, was charged in the June 27 burglary at Tropical Sno.

Police used DNA evidence to connect an Ames man with a burglary at a snow cone business last summer.
People reported a burglary of the Tropical Sno location in Ames on June 27, saying a man broke out the businesses' front window and grabbed some cash, criminal complaints said. The business reported it was missing $225 after the theft, complaints said. Blood was found at the scene and DNA evidence from that matched a swab taken from Ryen Ellrich, 25, of Sherman Avenue. He was also identified as the burglar in a lineup, complaints said. Ellrich was arrested on a charge of third-degree burglary at 5:50 p.m. Feb. 19.
