Ames School District Superintendent Receives $153,000 Compensation Package

Board unanimously approves superintendent's contract extension.

Ames School District Superintendent Tim Taylor will receive a salary of $153,000 for the 2013-14 fiscal year beginning July 1.

The school board unanimously approved on Monday, extending Taylor's contract through 2016.

Taylor received a 3.1 percent raise for a total salary of $153,000 for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

His compensation package includes 24 days of vacation, 10 paid holidays, use of his 165 accrued sick days and 5 personal days to use in June and July.

Board President Dan Woodin said the superintendent's contract is extended by one year, each year when things are going well.

“I think it's appropriate for the work and all the extra work that Dr. Taylor and the administration has been going through in the last few years. We're very aggressive in doing a lot of things at the current time,” Woodin said.

Other terms of the contract include that Taylor be reimbursed $1,700 a year for using his personal vehicle for work and be reimbursed up to $3,000 a year for expenses related to attending professional meetings at the local, state and national levels.
