Ames Traffic Signals Feature Flashing Yellow Arrows

People driving through AmesΒ might have noticed that some traffic lights now have flashing yellow arrows.

It doesn't mean to turn quick before the light turns red though. Drivers are still supposed to yield to oncoming traffic before making the left turn. The City of Ames installed the lights to replace the traditional green arrow.

These signals can be found at Southeast 16th Street and South Dayton Avenue, Mortensen Road and Dotson Drive, 28th Street and Grand Avenue and along Lincoln Way at Dotson Drive, Ash Avenue and Sheldon Avenue. Β
