Ames and Story County are included in a National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect until 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service predicts that as much as five inches of snow could fall through the day and another four inches tonight.
Snowfall is expected to continue through Friday, eventually turning to rain.
