Ames Welcomes Back ISU Students With Event on Friday

Iowa State University students are invited to the eighth annual Welcome Back Event, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday. There will be free pizza, prizes, information and games.

Ames City Council Welcomes Back ISU Students

AMES, Iowa – The invites students to the eighth annual Welcome Back Event.  From 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, the area around , 132 Welch Ave., will be filled with tables, free pizza, prizes, and information.  Additionally, parts of Chamberlain Street near the fire station will be closed to accommodate games and other activities.  

The event is free and open to all students.  It is hosted by Ames Mayor Ann Campbell and members of the Ames City Council.

Ames City Council’s ex-officio student representative and Government of the Student Body City Council liaison Sawyer Baker is looking forward to welcoming students back to Ames and participating in this year’s event.  "This event is a great display of the useful relationship that Ames and ISU have with one another," said Baker. “Every student should attend this event to not only enjoy the fun atmosphere, but to learn about City resources and meet the dedicated City leaders and staff." Baker will also be hosting the Channel 12 quiz show at the event.

City Council Members, City of Ames staff, and student interns will welcome students back to Ames for the beginning of the fall semester.  They will provide information about City programs and services, as well as brochures on recreational opportunities, bus and bike routes, and other topics of interest to new residents.
