Flood Repair Activities to Begin Monday

From the City of Ames

By Susan Gwiasda

AMES, Iowa – Peterson Contractors, Inc., and the City of Ames have scheduled flood repair construction to begin on Monday along North Riverside Drive and in the greenway east of University Boulevard between Lincoln Way and Sixth Street. The property along Squaw Creek and north of Stuart Smith Park is known as the Elwood Pasture. The construction will be repairing damage from the 2010 flood.

Work along North Riverside Drive will include removal of flood damaged trees and debris along Squaw Creek. Also, there will be minor clearing to make way for bank stabilization and steel sheet piling to protect the street and utilities. Only the clearing activities are scheduled for the upcoming weeks.  Bank stabilization will occur at a later date and will involve closing North Riverside Drive to through traffic.
