The Ames Parks and Recreation Department is now taking registrations for its Scuba Diving Classes at Municipal Pool. Class options are Tuesdays, January 8 – February 12, 7:00 – 10:30 PM, or Thursdays, January 10 – February 14, 7:00 – 10:30 PM. The Non-resident fee is $235 and the resident discounted fee is $220. Additional Fees do apply (Equipment is $100-$200; Book is $70, and open water dive is approximately $200). The course is open to ages 12 through adult (under 15 may participate if a parent is registered). Participants ages 15 and up successfully completing the course will receive a non-expiring open water scuba certification. Those 12-14 can receive a Jr. Scuba Certification. College credit is available for this class. Jerry Symons, former Iowa State University Instructor, conducts the class.
