AMES, Iowa – Ames Mayor Ann Campbell is seeking two volunteers to fill two open positions on the Public Art Commission. One volunteer would fill out the remainder of an unexpired term through April 1, 2014, and the other would fill an unexpired term through April 1, 2016. Both positions would be eligible for reappointment.
The Public Art Commission’s purpose is to establish art philosophy and develop a public art plan for the City of Ames. The Commission monitors the public art budget and recommends funding allocations for public art within City facilities, develops guidelines for selecting artwork, seeks private and government funding for public art, and develops educational and promotional projects for public arts programming.
The Public Art Commission meetings are generally held the first Wednesday of each month at noon in City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
Applications are available in the City Clerk’s Office, on the second floor of City Hall. Also, applications are available online at www.cityofames.org. The application is under “Our Government” at the top, followed by “Boards & Commissions.”
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.
