Back to School Sales Tax Holiday Begins Aug. 2

Iowa's Sales Tax Holiday begins 12 a.m. Friday.

Iowa's Sales Tax holiday will soon be here. NoΒ sales taxΒ will be collected on select clothing and footwear Friday Aug. 2 and Saturday Aug. 3.

Than means a savings of up to 7 percent here in Story County. The exemption only applies to clothing and shoes that cost less than $100 per item. And some odd rules apply.Β ShoesΒ without cleats are exempt, shoes with cleats are taxable.

Any store that is open from 12 a.m. Aug. 2 to 12 a.m. Aug. 4 has to participate.
