Breast Cancer Awareness Events Continue in Ames Through October

Groups and individuals continue to raise funds for cancer and breast cancer.

It's not too late to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness events happening in Ames and the metro area.

The Bliss Cancer Center at Mary Greeley Medical Center will host the Lily Oncology on Canvas through Friday. The exhibit honors "the journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis," according to lilyoncologyoncanvas.com.

Anyone who wants to take a fall ride and fundraise for cancer can join the Ames Local 625 Cruise for a Cure Oct. 21. Firefighters will also sell the pink T-shirts made for Breast Cancer Awareness last October and raise additional funds through cruise registration fees.

In addition to these Ames events, Iowa residents will be participating in Susan Komen Race for the Cure in Des Moines on Oct. 27.

The Boone-based fitness group the Dirty Skirts is raising money for the race by wrapping big pink ribbons around trees for each person who donates $10.
