The third of three finalists for the position of Ames City Assessor will give a public presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 23, as part of the interview process. Shari Plagge will present at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.

The City Assessor is responsible for assigning values to all taxable property within Ames’ city limits. An ongoing process of gathering and reviewing information, reviewing and listing new construction, and investigating sales of real estate is used to provide accurate and current values.
Plagge currently serves as the Assessor for Wright County, Iowa, a position she has held since 2010. She has more than 20 years of experience in assessor’s offices. Plagge received the Iowa Certified Assessor (ICA) designation in 2012 from the Institute of Iowa Certified Assessors. She also received the Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES) designation in 2019 and the Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS) in 2020 from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Plagge graduated from the legal administration program at Hamilton Business College.
