Read This Before You Do Your Laundry

The City of Ames began flushing hydrants this week.

The Public Works Department entered its first week of hydrant flushing Monday. Work began in the central areas of the city and will move outward. During this annual maintenance event residents can expect that their water might be rusty or turned off for a bit and a few roads will be partially blocked while crews work.

If you want to know whether Ames has flushed hydrants in your area go to this site and enter your address: www.cityofames.org

Drive carefully when you see a crew --- streets might be flooded. And check the tap and look for discolored water before you take a drink, wash your dishes or do your laundry, just in case.
