
A cooking stove fire at Riverside Manor sent one employee to a hospital and caused about $5,000 in damages, according to a release from The Ames Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 11:19 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Firefighters were told that there had been a fire in the kitchen, the fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system and that everyone was out of the area.
Firefighters confirmed that the fire was out and assisted Riverside employees with clean-up.
One employee was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center. Probable cause was determined to be a cooking stove malfunction; preliminary damage is estimated at $5,000. No residents were displaced.
