Electrical Fire Displaces Two Hyland Avenue Residents
Ames Firefighters were called to a fire Tuesday afternoon.

A fire in a Hyland Avenue home converted into apartments displaced two residents Tuesday, according to a release from the City of Ames fire department.
Firefighters arrived on the scene about 3:55 p.m. Tuesday. The person who reported the fire called 911 saying that smoke and flames were coming from a window on the first floor of a two story multifamily dwelling, the release said.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to the release. Two of the apartments were damaged by fire and smoke. Damages are estimated at $15,000. The fire's cause appears to be electrical according to the release.
