November 15 --Â Get a head-start on winter decorating by creating an inviting evergreen wreath with SCC Naturalist Emily Herring.
The Welcoming Winter Wreath workshop will take place on Thursday, December 6 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Story County Conservation Center at McFarland Park (56461 180th Street) northeast of Ames.
Participants will learn about the history of wreaths, common types of evergreen found in Iowa, and how to properly harvest evergreen. At the end of the workshop, participants will take home a wreath to serve as a warm welcome for anyone who knocks on their front door this winter.

Cost of the program is $10 (one wreath per person) with pre-registration and payment required by Friday, November 30. Participants should bring gloves and wire cutters. Youth under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
