Few Answers in Electric Beach Tanning Closing

State authorities said they have been unable to reach the owner who reportedly closed the business just before Thanksgiving.

State authorities have few answers on what happened to Electric Beach Tanning, whose tanning salons reportedly closed without warning.

The business' two salons in Northern Lights Center and Campustown closed just before Thanksgiving without notifying customers who often pay for tanning minutes in advance.

The owner Luella Gustafson cannot be reached for comment.

Geoff Greenwood, Iowa Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General communications director, said in an email that they have tried to contact the owner and have received about 10 complaints from former customers. The office wants to reach Gustafson for a response to the complaints.

The Tribune reported that a friend of Gustafson returned the key to the Wheeler Street location in mid November and the landlord there, David Klatt, has said that a new tanning business Sun Tan City plans to take over that space.
