
A malfunctioning bathroom fan caused a fire in a Lettie Street home Sunday evening, according to a release from the Ames Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the home just before 9 p.m. Sunday, and saw smoke coming from the home. The fire was found in the bathroom ceiling and attic area and quickly extinguished.
Four people living in the home were displaced for the night. The American Red Cross was assisting the residents, according to the release.
The fire caused about $1,500 in damages.
