Firefighters: Uncover Your Fire Hydrant
Ames Fire Department requests that residents uncover their hydrants.
Ames firefighters are asking residents to check the fire hydrants nearest their home or place of business and uncover them if they are not visible.
People are asked to clear a three foot wide area around all hydrants so firefighters can find them in case of emergency, a release from the department states.
People who are unable to clear their hydrants may call Ames Fire Station No #1 for help. The number is 515-239-5108.
