Former Auburn and Iowa State Coach Named in 2010 NCAA Violations

Players were paid and had grades altered to remain eligible, under Coach Gene Chizik reports say.

A former Iowa State Football Coach Gene Chizik has been implicated in recruiting violations and other misconduct in the 2010 season, according to an article in Sports Illustrated and the Des Moines Register.

According to the articles, Auburn altered players grades and paid players while Chizik was a head coach for the Tigers.

Chizik was the head coach at Iowa State from 2007-08, the Des Moines Register reports.

The Register article said that players have denied the allegations. ESPN reported that Chizik said the accusations are "short on facts and logic" and some of those interviewed for the original story are now saying that they were misquoted.

Both reports said they obtained information from a blogger who broke the story at Roopstigo.com
