Iowa State Fan Dies Immediately after Liberty Bowl
Chris Schmitt, of Des Moines, died shortly after leaving the stadium the Des Moines Register reports.
ISU fan and Des Moines resident Chris Schmitt, 47, died while leaving the Cyclones Liberty Bowl Game Dec. 31, according to a report from the Des Moines Register.
Schmitt, who was attending the Iowa State-Tulsa game with his 15-year-old son and other family, struggled to speak as he left the stadium and eventually became unresponsive, the Des Moines Register report stated.
Emergency officials gave the man CPR, but he was pronounced dead at a Memphis hospital.

A visitation is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Friday at Johnston Evangelical Free Church, with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the same location, according to the report.
