Iowa State Officials Investigating Racist, Threatening Tweets Following Controversial Loss to Kansas

Iowa State University is investigating tweets made after ISU Cyclones Men's Basketball lost to KU Monday, KCCI is reporting.

Two Iowa State University students sent out threatening messages including that they would take a gun to the KU bus, KCCI reports.

One tweet said: "we got 30 bullets, so whose on the list?"

Another called KU player Elijah Johnson a derogatory term.

The bad feelings toward the player probably stemmed from his involvement in a bad call during the game.

Johnson is the player who appeared to run down ISU's Georges Niang in the final seconds of regulation. Many felt officials should have called a block or charge, but the foul was called on Niang allowing Johnson to tie up the game from the free throw line, which led to KU's overtime win.

Johnson also dunked the ball in the final seconds of overtime when Kansas had the game in hand. Johnson admitted it was poor sportsmanship during interviews after the game, according to multiple news outlets including USA Today.

The Big 12 Conference acknowledged mistakes were made in a statement it released on Tuesday, ESPN reported.

"The Big 12 Conference acknowledges that officiating errors were made at the end of regulation during last night's Kansas at Iowa State men's basketball game," the conference said in a statement released Tuesday. "The plays have been reviewed and appropriate measures will be taken by the Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officials to adjust the number of future assignments for the two officials involved in conjunction with Conference policies."

The call left many ISU fans upset, but doesn't absolve the threat.
