Iowa State University Scripps National Spelling Bee Registration
Schools must register by Oct. 15 to participate in the finals.

Iowa elementary and middle schools interested in giving their students the chance to spell their way to a state and national championship, must register by Oct. 15.
Iowa State University’s Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication will host the Iowa finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee March 2. Students must first participate in and win their school’s local spelling bee. The winner of the state championship held at Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication will earn a trip to Washington, D.C., for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2013.
Registration for the Scripps National Spelling Bee can be done online at www.spellingbee.com. The cost per school is $115 and includes the word list, pronouncer’s guide, rules, certificates and prizes. First-through eight-grade students are eligible to participate.
