Iowa State Women's Basketball Squad Heading to Washington to Face Gonzaga for NCAA Tournament
The ISU women's basketball team was chosen as the #5 seed in the Spokane region in the 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. Iowa State will play #12 seed Gonzaga on Saturday. NCAA Tourney Bracket attached.
The Iowa State women's basketball team is in the NCAA Tournament again this year, as a fifth-seed heading to the Spokane Region.
Strangely, the bracket has them facing the 12-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs in their home territory. (Associated Press)
The Cyclones are a No. 5 seed, but they will have to face 12th-seeded Gonzaga on the road on Saturday.

The winner will play either fourth-seeded Georgia or Montana.

Iowa State has won 23 games so far this year.

The Cyclones finished second in the Big 12 regular season standings and in the conference tournament, falling to top-seeded Baylor 75-47.
Cyclones Coach Bill Fennelly told the Iowa State Daily that it will be a tough game for the Cyclones, in their seventh straight tournament, but the team will be ready.

"It's a road game alright," Fennelly said. "But we play a lot of tough road games. That's what this tournament is about β 15 of the 16 sites someone is playing at home and I think that's good for the event; it's good for the tournament."
With their selection to the NCAA tournament the Cyclones are one of just 13 teams in the country to make it in seven consecutive seasons. Iowa State's seniors will be playing in their fourth and final NCAA tournament.
