Ames Police Department releases name of student injured in fall.

The name of an Iowa State University student who fell from a fifth-story apartment ledge early Sunday has been released.
Christian McKee, 19, of Ames, sustained a number of serious injuries from the fall and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment, according to a release from the Ames Police Department. Mercy Medical Center staff said McKee is currently listed in critical condition.

McKee had climbed over the railing of a fifth-story balcony at Legacy Towers Apartments before he fell, according to police. McKee is listed as a freshman engineering student in the University's directory.
Police were called to help about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. People told police that McKee was alone on the balcony when he fell.

An Iowa State University student who fell 50 feet from a Legacy Towers balcony ledge in August continues to recover from his injuries.
Christian McKee, 19, fell 1:30 a.m. Aug. 26 after climbing over the railing of a balcony on the building's fifth story. He was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines for treatment where he remained in critical condition for several days.
McKee was a freshman engineering student in the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012, but withdrew after his fall.
Attempts to reach McKee, of Robins, have been unsuccessful. His last known phone number is in non working order. But Iowa State University officials have remained in contact with the family.
βISU Dean of Students Pamela Anthony has been in recent contact with McKee and his family, and he is recovering,β said Annette Hacker of Iowa State University News Director.
McKee fell on the south side of the building and landed in some dirt near a construction site for The Resort, a three-story recreational complex for residents of Campustown Property Management. He was alone on the shared balcony at the time.
Ames Police CMDR. James Robinson said a follow up investigation found no criminal actions and police are no longer investigating the fall.
This is the second time this year a person has fallen from a balcony in Ames. In April, , died when he fell from a fourth-floor balcony in Campustown. Police said he was in town for ISU's VEISHEA celebration and that alcohol was involved.
