King Said No Republican Disagrees with His Stance on Immigration

King drew some criticism when he said: "they've got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert." about residents living in the U.S. illegally. King said no one will publicly disagree with him.

When KCCI asked Iowa Congressman Steve King about his suggestion that most young residents living in America illegally were drug smugglers, King said that no Republican disagrees with him on the facts of his statement.

King said in a recent Newsmax interview, “For everyone who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds — and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.”

And Democrats and Republicans might have characterized his statement as “wrong” and “inexcusable.”

But King told KCCI that “I haven't found anybody who will publicly disagree with the facts I have uttered.”

King said his characterization came from border patrol guards.

Iowa Gov. Branstad said he disagreed with the wording in his statement and that sometimes things get blown out of proportion.

One woman attending a recent fundraiser in Boone said there was a lot of truth in what he said.
