Lang, State Board of Regents President, Clarifies Statement on ISU President Leath's Contract
Iowa State Board of Regents President Craig Lang clarified his statement to Iowa Public Radio about ISU President Steven Leath's contract.

Iowa State Board of Regents President Craig Lang released a statement this afternoon to claify a recent statement he made to the Iowa Public Radio about ISU President Steven Leath's contract.
I would like to clarify my recent comments to Iowa Public Radio with regard to the contract for ISU President Leath, who is currently working under a three-year contract effective FebruaryΒ 1, 2012.
When President Leath was hired, the Board determined that the initial contract period should not exceed three years to ensure that the Board could reassess its decision, if necessary, within the three-year period. That said, I want to assure all Iowans that I am tremendously pleased with President Leathβs performance in the past year and his stellar leadership of Iowa State University.

βThe University and the state of Iowa are extremely fortunate to have President Leath at the helm, and based on his current performance, I look forward to his service well beyond his initial three-year contract,β said Board President Craig Lang.

Lang was talking to the Public Radio about University of Iowa President Sally Mason, who is currently working without a contract. According to the report, he said that the board could also decide against renewing Leath's contract when it expires in three years.
