NCAA Basketball Tournament: Ames High Students BuBu Palo and Doug McDermott both in the March Madness Bracket

Bubu Palo and Doug McDermott will play in the NCAA basketball tournament which begins Tuesday.

Ames residents and Iowa State Cyclones fans will have at least two reasons to watch the Division I NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament known as March Madness, which begins Tuesday.

Ames High School graduates, Bubu Palo of the Iowa State Cyclones; and Doug McDermott, the No. 2 ranked college player, are expected to play in the tournament. McDermott is a small forward for Creighton University and Palo is a guard for the Cyclones. Both universitys are a 10-seed.

Iowa State will face Notre Dame and Creighton will play Cinncinati in the first round. Iowa State will play its first game Friday in Dayton, Ohio.

McDermott and Palo played basketball for the Ames High Little Cyclones with Harrison Barnes, who now plays for the NBA as a Golden State Warrior. McDermott and Barnes graduated in 2010 and Palo graduated in 2009 along with Jesse Pritchard who went on to play for Yale University.
