Mixed Salad Restaurant Hopes to Open in Ames
A South Dakota build-it yourself salad chain hopes to expand in Ames and across the midwest.
A build-your-own salad shop hopes to open in Ames, (and other parts of Iowa) but it needs to find a willing franchisee first.
Mixed serves salads, sandwiches and wraps Subway style --- preparing dishes as the customers order.
The chain hopes to open three to five franchises in Iowa by the end of 2013, said Kevin Plank, Franchise Sales and Support for Mixed.

“Ames is on our map to hit,” Plank said.
Plank is also targeting Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City. The chain has three interested parties to date, but none of them are in Ames.

The Sioux Falls, SD based restaurant chops and builds salads and wraps right in front of its customers as they pick the desired toppings. People can choose from 47 toppings and 27 dressings and watch as employees chop and mix their made to order salads.
Mixed Founder Cole Shawd opened the first Mixed in Sioux Falls in 2010 and hopes to see 20 new stores in Iowa by 2014.
