New Parade Route for Fourth of July; New Date for Fourth of July Fireworks

AMES, Iowa – The annual Fourth of July parade will follow a different route this year due to weather delays in completing a reconstruction project on Douglas Avenue. The parade will begin atΒ 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, from the corner of Clark Avenue and Main Street. The parade will proceed east on Main Street to Kellogg Avenue, north on Kellogg to Sixth Street, west on Sixth Street to Burnett Avenue, south on Burnett Avenue to Fifth Street, and west on Fifth Street to end at City Hall.Β 

The Young Professionals of Ames recently announced they will be setting off Fourth of July fireworks the evening ofΒ Friday, July 5, on Iowa State University property east of Jack Trice Stadium. The YPA will begin the show at duskΒ on Friday, which has typically occurred betweenΒ 9 and 10 p.m.Β The rain date for the fireworks isΒ Saturday, July 6.Β 

Ames Mayor and City Council invite Ames residents to attend the free community pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the front entrance of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. City Hall and most City departments and divisions will be closedΒ Thursday, July 4, in recognition of Independence Day. Β Normal operating hours will resume on Friday, July 5. Β Β 

CyRide will run a normal scheduleΒ Wednesday, July 3Β and on Friday, July 5. There will be no service on Thursday, July 4. For more information, visitΒ www.cyride.com.Β The Ames Public Library will be closedΒ Thursday, July 4.Β
