Nutcracker Ballet Auditions Sept. 8

The Stephens Auditorium announced the start of its Nutcracker auditions.

Auditions for the annual performance of the Nutcracker Ballet at Stephens Auditorium are set for noon to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.

More than 200 dancers from local dance studios will perform Dec. 14 and Dec. 15. Anyone interested in taking a part must be 6 years old by Dec. 14, wear leotards, tights, and ballet or pointe shoes. Registration for auditions starts at 11:15 a.m. Information can be filled out in advance at www.center.iastate.edu or www.rtdance.com.  For more information call the Robert Thomas Dancenter at (515) 233-0826.

Noon to 3 p.m.  Children ages six and older.

Roles include: Fritz and Friends, Clara and Friends, Indian Boys, Mother Ginger’s Children, Angels, Soldiers, Mice, Russians, Puppets and Harlequins.

 

3 to 3:30 p.m.  Adult dancers.

Roles include: First Act Party Guests, Maids, Drosselmeyer, Mouse King, Justice Silberhaus, Frau Silberhaus and Mother Ginger.

 

 

3:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Ballet dancers (male and female) for pointe (P) and non-pointe (NP).

These dancers must be enrolled in a dance studio and pointe dancers must be studying pointe. Roles include: Dolls (P), Flutes (P), Spanish (P), Chinese (P), Flower Soloists (P), Flowers (P), Snowflakes (P), Neapolitans (P), Dew Drop Fairy (P), Hungarians (NP), Arabians (NP), Irish (NP), Americans (NP), and the Nutcracker (NP).
