Police Blotter: Man Charged in Mace Assault at North Grand Mall

Ames Police Blotter Oct. 8 to Oct. 12.

A Stanhope man has been accused of spraying a 55-year-old woman in the face with mace outside the North Grand Mall this week and faces a number of other charges not all related to that incident.

A woman told police she was assaulted by an unknown man, according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

She said a man asked her for a cigarette outside the mall and then sprayed her face.

Police went to the hotel where Pringle, 21, was staying that same evening to serve an arrest warrant and recognized him from the mall earlier that day, the article said.

Pringle now faces several charges including third-degree theft and assault.

Oct. 8

Ren Damme, 20 Lincoln Swing, was charged with fifth-degree theft at 9:45 a.m.

Ryan Jones, 25, Lincoln Swing, was charged with willful failure to appear at 2 p.m.

Oct. 9

Joshua Pringle, 21, homeless, was charged with third-degree theft, serious assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to a peace officer and willful failure to appear.

Oct. 10

Clarence Castile, 30, Ontario, was charged with forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture of marijuana and false communication with public safety at 9 p.m.

Scott Griffen, 49, Pierce Circle, was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense and speeding at 4:28 a.m.

Howard Hughes, 30, 812 Ridgewood Ave. was charged with public intoxication at 4:23 a.m.

Oct. 11

Jason Bergman, 23, Lincoln Way, was charged with public intoxication, second offense at 2:37 a.m.

Colton Clausen, 22, Ankeny, was charged with public intoxication, first offense at 2:12 a.m.

Oct. 12

Cody Hoover, 21, Frederckson Ct., was charged with public intoxication at 2 a.m.
