Police: Man Forgets Where He Left Stolen Car, Steals Another

Man drives two stolen cars and steals checks from one, police say.

A man driving a stolen car told police he had driven a second car that didn't belong to him and couldn't remember where he left it, according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

Maybe it was the alcohol.

William Anthony Henrich, 20, was stopped about 3 a.m. Sunday by Iowa State University police and charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

The car Henrich was in didn't belong to him and neither did some checks found inside it, according to the story. Police discovered that Henrich had stolen the checks from another car he had driven, also without permission, the report said.

Police found the second car near Hayward Avenue Monday afternoon, the article said. Henrich was charged with third-degree burglary, two counts of operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent and unlawful use of a license in addition to the OWI.
