Police: One Charged in Alcohol Compliance Check

Ames Police Department issued few citations in its latest alcohol compliance check.

Perhaps employees at local alcohol retailers have learned their lesson.

While one out of three alcohol retailers sold alcohol to a person under 21 Nov. 8, just one out of 24 retailers sold alcohol to a person under 21 in a recent sting, according to a release from the Ames Police Department.

Ames Police Officers conducted an alcohol compliance check on Nov. 30, according to a press release.

Daniel Joseph Kuil, 23, was cited for selling alcohol to an underage person.

If found guilty he could be ordered to pay $735 in fines and fees.

The increased compliance with alcohol sales laws was probably due to the fact that police rechecked a lot of the same businesses they checked on Nov. 8, which made them more cautious, Officer Jason Tuttle said.
