Police Remind Iowa State Students to Drive Safe
Police will step up enforcement of alcohol violations as Iowa State University students begin the fall semester.

The Ames Police Department will be stepping up enforcement of alcohol violations Thursday through Aug. 31, according to a release from the department.
Officers will specifically be looking for drivers who are operating while under the influence, speeding excessively or anyone who isn't wearing a seat belt. They will also be on the lookout for people who possess alcohol under the legal age and public intoxication.
The Ames Police Department encourages everyone to designate a sober driver who will not be drinking any alcohol. Iowa State students are beginning to return to campus for classes, which begin Monday. And Iowa State Cyclones will face the University of Northern Iowa Panthers in a season opener Aug. 31.
