
An Ames woman was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attacking a woman in a parking lot during the afternoon of July 6, according to criminal complaints.
Ames police went to a parking lot on South Fifth Street about 3:45 p.m. July 6 for a report of an assault. A woman told police that Hannah E. Benck crawled into the woman's car through an open window and lied on top of her and struck her several times in the head, complaints said.

The woman had a bleeding laceration above her left eye, according to criminal complaints. Benck was charged with aggravated assault, an aggravated misdemeanor.

July 7
Michael R. Bankers, 19, Ash Ave., was charged with possession of a controlled substance, interference with official acts and possession of alcohol under age at 2:33 a.m.
Michael D. Patz, 22, Lincoln Way, was charged with public intoxication at 3:25 a.m.
July 8
Evan H. Campbell, 21, S. Grand Ave., was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense; and failure to maintain control at 1:13 a.m.
