President Bill Clinton in Iowa to Stump for Vilsack and Boswell on Friday

Correction: A previous headline incorrectly stated the town President Clinton would visit. He will be in Sioux City.

President Bill Clinton will visit Iowa on Friday to campaign for congressional candidates Christie Vilsack and Leonard Boswell.

Clinton will headline the Value of Common Sense Rally in Sioux City in support of Christie Vilsack on Friday evening. Doors to the rally open at 5 p.m.

Vilsack is running against Congressman Steve King, R-Kiron, for Iowa's new 4^th District.

“It’s a privilege to have President Clinton’s support in this election and I look forward to welcoming him to the 4^th District,” said Christie Vilsack in a prepared statement.

“President Clinton knows that creating a strong economy begins with rebuilding the middle class in this country. His common-sense approach is why he was able to balance the budget and create jobs, without telling future generations that they should forget the promise of Medicare or access to education. This is the same kind of leadership I’ll bring to Congress as I fight for the 4^th District.”

Later that evening people might also be able to see Clinton at a fundraiser for Congressman Leonard Boswell. The event begins at 8 p.m. and will be held at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel, 401 Locust St.

The Sioux City event is open to the media and the public. The Des Moines Register reported that it was unknown if the Renaissance fundraiser would be open to media.
