Recession Proof Ames, Story County, Saw High Number of Foreclosures from 2010 to 2012

Though the city of Ames might seem recession proof, Story County saw a spike in foreclosures in recent times, according to a statistical foreclosure map prepared by the University of Iowa.

The map tracks foreclosure by quarter from 2006 through the end of 2012. When mousing over data for Story County, foreclosures spike at 94 in the fourth quarter of 2010. And another 100 homes went through foreclosure in the first quarter of 2012.

Less than 40 homes went through foreclosure in the 4^th quarter of 2012.

In previous years (2006-09) just handfuls of homes went through foreclosure according to the map.
