Report: Ames Woman Accused of Assaulting Cops, Leads Woodbury Sheriff on High Speed Chase

Kaia Kriener, of Ames, drove off from a traffic stop in Woodbury County, sheriff deputies say.

An Ames woman accused of assaulting three Ames police officers on April 28, allegedly led a Woodbury County Sheriff deputy on a high speed chase down Interstate 29, according to the Sioux City Journal.

Kaia Kriener, 28, drove away from a traffic stop near the Port Neal exit on Sunday, according to the Woodbury County Sheriff’s office. The deputy eventually stopped Kriener in Whiting, the article said.

Kriener was charged with misdemeanor eluding, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts and improper use of a lane and speeding, according to the report. She was being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $2,000 bond on Monday.

Kriener also faces eight charges in Ames including assault on three police officers after allegedly kicking the doorman at Charlie Yokes about 1:40 a.m. April 28 and then refusing police orders when she was found sitting on the floor in the food prep area of Pita Pit, a business just around the corner from the Campustown Bar, police said.

During that arrest, Kriener spit on one police officer, bit another in the leg and bit a third officer on the arm leaving teethmarks behind, police said. Kriener also had a pipe with marijuana inside it, police said.

Kriener was charged with two counts of simple assault on a peace officer, one count of aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, interference with official acts and public intoxication, third offense.
