Road construction will begin near the Ames High School in Ames Tuesday restricting traffic on Summit Avenue where it intersects with Ridgewood Avenue, according to a press release from the City of Ames.
Con-Struct Inc. and the City of Ames have scheduled Phase II of street construction along Ridgewood Avenue beginningΒ Tuesday, June 25. This phase will extend north to just short of the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and 16th Street.Β
This phase will include removal and replacement of the curb, gutter, and paving, sanitary sewer repairs, storm sewer intake upgrades, driveway reconstruction and pedestrian ramp upgrades. These activities are expected to take 3 to 4 weeks to complete, and no vehicles will be allowed into the construction area.Β
Through traffic will not be allowed on Summit Avenue where it intersects with Ridgewood Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to Northwestern Avenue with an official detour. There will be a final phase (Phase III) that will reconstruct the intersection at 16th Street and Ridgewood. Phase III is expected to last about 2 weeks.Β
