Road Construction Disrupts Fourth Of July Parade Route

Douglas Avenue project delayed by rain.

Rainy weather has delayed the reconstruction of Douglas Avenue in downtown Ames so this year's Fourth of July parade will be rerouted.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Clark Avenue and Main Street. The parade will head east on Main Street and turn North on Kellogg Avenue and then head west on Sixth Street before heading south on Burnett Avenue and ending west on Fifth Street.

Rubin Mora of Construct said they hoped to complete the Douglas Avenue project in time for the parade but it rained too much.

They expect to begin paving the road Saturday.
