Rose Fest at Reiman Gardens

Stop and smell the roses at Reiman Gardens on Saturday, June 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for its annual Rose Fest. Along with scheduled activities, visitors will enjoy the extensive collection of Griffith Buck hardy roses, AARS trial winners, antique roses as well as view the innovative and sustainable design of the Helen Latch Jones Rose Garden.Β

Visitors can get their rose-related questions answered from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. by the Story County Master Gardeners as well as take guided tours of Reiman Gardens’ rose gardens at 11:15 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. While outdoors, guests can listen to live music by the Classical Guitar Society from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Children can participate in a fun rose-themed activity station from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Inside from approximately 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. visitors can take in the Iowa Rose Society Annual Rose Show to see Iowa’s award winning roses. Guests can see a variety of cut roses differing in form, color and scent.

For an additional fee, rose enthusiasts can take a class at 10:00 a.m. presented by Veronica Fowler, editor of the Iowa Gardening e-newsletter and author ofΒ Gardening in Iowa. Attendees can learn the best types of roses for Iowa and how to plant and care for them to get maximum blooms with minimal effort. This class requires preregistration and costs $8 for members, $10 for the general public, and Iowa State University students receive 15% off the member price. Veronica Fowler will be selling her book before and after the lecture.

Admission to the Gardens is $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, $4.00 for youth ages 4-17, and free for age 3 and under.Β Admission is always free for Reiman Gardens’ members and Iowa State University students with valid ISU card.
