Royce White Meeting With NBA Houston Rockets to Decide Fate

Royce White, of the NBA Houston Rockets and former ISU Cyclone Basketball standout, plans to sit down with his team today and decide what to do next.

White has tweeted that he was prepared to give up basketball

I'm not PLANNING to quit, but if its between my HEALTH and BASKETBALL, health takes precedence. You should never choose ANYTHING over it.”

According to the USA Today, White planned to meet with Daryl Morey, the Houston Rockets general manager sometime Monday.

Royce White has missed some games and practices for what White says are medical reasons, but the team has threatened to fine White for missing anymore time with the team or therapy sessions with the doctor the team has selected.

According to the USA Today article, White missed the team's media day, portions of training camp and some home games.

If White does decide to leave the NBA Monday, he might be able to continue basketball in another arena.

The Harlem Globetrotters released a statement Friday offering White a job.

I have watched from afar an incredibly gifted basketball player who has struggled off the court with a fear of flying, and I truly feel for this young man," said Globetrotter Coach and Director of Player Personnel "Sweet" Lou Dunbar. "While we truly hope Royce can overcome his fears, and have a highly successful NBA career, I just want him to know the Globetrotters offer their support and another option to play professional basketball without a rigorous flying schedule,” the statement reads, according to ABC.

But multiple media outlets are reporting that the Houston Rockets have no intentions of releasing White from his contract.
