Royce White Tells Radio Chances of Playing for NBA Houston Rockets Could Be Slim

White said in a radio interview that he won't play NBA ball until the League has a mental health protocol in place.

Sorry to get your hopes up, but the latest stories about Royce White now suggest the chance that he will ever play in the NBA is slim.

That is until the Houston Rockets and the NBA come up with a detailed plan for treating players diagnosed with mental illness.

"There's no mental health protocol here, for not only the Rockets but the entire league, really. I expressed that that's really unsafe if you think about it," White said to SiriusXM's "Off the Dribble" show as reported by ESPN.

"So, basically, I'm fighting to have that rectified. I just don't think it is OK or responsible or even logical to have GMs or any front office personnel have executive authority in medical situations."

White, who played for the Iowa State University Cyclones last year, was drafted to the Rockets in June but hasn't played a regular season game due to conflicts over how to treat his general anxiety disorder.Β
