School Board Accepts Two Bids for Roosevelt Elementary
The fate of the shuttered elementary school may finally be decided.

A local real estate developer offered the Ames Community School district $25,000 --- the highest bid --- for the shuttered Roosevelt Elementary School on Friday.Â
Dean Jensen of Real Estate Service Group, Inc. plans to turn the building into single family condominiums.
The district closed the school in 2005 and decided to sell the building after the district and the city said they would have no use for the building. A portion of the property would also be used for a City Park.

George Duncan, from Gold Nuggat Properties LLC, of Missouri offered $15,100 and said he finds investment "properties for clients that buy commercial and school buildings to convert to housing," according to a release from the district.
The School Board will consider the bids at the Feb. 25 meeting, the release said.
