Joseph D. Dolph, 30, Story City, was charged with serious assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, second offense; and contempt of court Sunday evening when Ames police were called to a fight in the 2600 block of Stange Road.
When police arrived about 8 p.m., they saw Dolph yell at a woman, grab her by the throat and push her into an a van, according to criminal complaints. Police also noticed that the man smelled like alcohol, spoke with slurred speech and had blood shot watery eyes, complaints said. Dolph's blood alcohol tested at .145 percent, complaints said.
