Story County Campgrounds Open Late Due to Long Thaw

Winter weather has pushed back the opening of Story County Conservation campgrounds to April 5.

Story County Conservation would have normally opened its campgrounds today but cold weather had put things behind.

All county campgrounds will open for the 2013 camping season on Friday.

Story County Conservation Ranger Dustin Eighmy said in a release that due to the freeze and thaw conditions, conservation staff would like to allow the gravel campground pads to firm up before high amounts of usage.
