Updated Two Cars Flipped Early Saturday, As VEISHEA is Underway

Ames police are seeking the public's help in identifying people responsible for flipping vehicles during VEISHEA festivities. A photo is attached.

Two vehicles were flipped on their sides on Welch Avenue and Sunset Drive early Saturday morning, according to a release from the Ames Police Department.

Joshua Thomas Ryan, 22, of Spencer, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief in the Welch Avenue incident, but police are asking for the public's help in identifying everyone responsible.

A group of people were seen rocking a vehicle until it flipped on its side about 12 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Welch Avenue.

The second car was flipped about 2:30 a.m. at 2035 Sunset Drive.

Anyone with information should call police at 515-239-5133.

Ryan was one of 21 people arrested between 3 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday. Twelve of those arrests were for public intoxication.

VEISHEA, an annual celebration of Iowa State University, continues through Sunday. The event draws thousands and almost doubles the city's population on the final weekend.
