Ames area Boy Scouts learned how to build a fire and catch a meal with their boot laces should they ever become stranded in the wilderness.
ISU Army ROTC Cadets led 300 area boy scouts through winter survival training Saturday.
Boy Scout troops rotated through several stations on Iowa State University campus learning things such as how to make a shelter, build a fire and even catch a meal using their own boot laces and materials found around them.
At the end of the day scouts were awarded with a winter survival patch.
