Water Main Break Closes Ames Road; Cuts off Water

Another 24th Street Intersection will be closed most of the day Wednesday.

Ferndale Avenue and 24th Street will be closed to traffic beginning 7:30 a.m. today so that the City of Ames can repair a water main break.

The repair is expected to take 6 to 7 hours to complete and area residents and businesses will not have water service during the process.

Ferndale Avenue will be closed at 24th Street and traffic on 24th Street will be narrowed to one lane in each direction through the construction area. If the water main break is more extensive than predicted, there is the possibility of a complete closure of the 24th Street and Ferndale Avenue intersection, according to a release from the city.
