Water Main Break Closes Ames Road; Cuts off Water

Ferndale Avenue and 24^th Street will be closed to traffic beginning 7:30 a.m. today so that the City of Ames can repair a water main break.

The repair is expected to take 6 to 7 hours to complete and area residents and businesses will not have water service during the process.

Ferndale Avenue will be closed at 24^th Street and traffic on 24^th Street will be narrowed to one lane in each direction through the construction area. If the water main break is more extensive than predicted, there is the possibility of a complete closure of the 24^th Street and Ferndale Avenue intersection, according to a release from the city.
