Tonight’s presidential debate is the first beween Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Β Patch will be holding a live chat on the site beginning at 7:45 p.m.Β 

Here’s what you need to know:

Who: President Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Jim Lehrer of NewsHour on PBS will moderate the debate

What: The first presidential debate

When: Tonight, 8 p.m.

Where: University of Denver. The debate will be televised by the networks and news cable stations.

In Ames, the President Barack Obama campaign is holding viewing parties in multiple locations.Β 

"The first presidential debate of the 2012 election is Wednesday, October 3rd. We'll be gathering to watch the debate together and make plans to get involved for the final month of the election. Join us for what is sure to be a fun evening!" a post on the Barack Obama Iowa site announced.

Mitt Romney’s campaign will hold one party at the Romney and Story County Headquarters in Ames. For the full list read Ames Patch’s earlier story on the debates. There will also be other Romney watch parties around Iowa.
